Repairs in Spondon

Getting an appliance repaired in Spondon

From the older cottages around St Werburgh’s Church to the later housing towards Chaddesden, our engineers repair appliances across Spondon, in the DE21 district.

If the washing machine is leaking, switch it off at the wall, stop using it and look at where the water collects. Water at the front often means the door seal or the detergent drawer, while water underneath points to a hose, the pump or an internal joint. Noting where it appears, and at what point in the cycle, helps the engineer find it quickly.

Before we arrive

Three things that help the visit.

  1. Find the model number

It’s on a label inside the door, around the door frame or on the back. A photo of it, and of any error code, helps the engineer bring the right parts.

  2. Tell us how it’s fitted

Freestanding or built in, stacked, in a utility room or garage. Clear the way, but leave the appliance where it is.

  3. Mention access and parking

A permit, a gate code, a shared entrance or stairs. A quick note helps the engineer arrive on time and prepared.

Booking a repair in Spondon

My cottage has narrow doorways and a small kitchen. Can you still repair the appliance?

Usually, yes. Repairs are normally done where the appliance stands, so the engineer only needs room to pull it forward. Mention tight access and parking when you book so the visit is planned for it.

Do you cover the rest of DE21?

Yes. Our engineers cover the whole DE21 district, including Chaddesden and Oakwood, which have their own pages.

Does the online quote include parts?

No. The quote covers labour: the engineer finding the fault and carrying out the repair. If a part is needed, the engineer tells you which one and what it costs, and waits for your go-ahead before fitting it.

How soon can an engineer come to Spondon?

Visits are available on the same or next day where the diary allows. Pick a preferred day and a morning or afternoon slot when you book, and the team checks the engineers’ diaries and contacts you to confirm the appointment.

About Spondon

Spondon has been a village since at least the Domesday Book, but its most famous date is 1340. A fire that began while malt was being dried spread through the village on a strong wind, destroying the church and almost every house. St Werburgh’s Church was rebuilt around 1390, and its nave, chancel and 35-metre tower and spire still date from that time.

In the twentieth century Spondon became known for the factory beside the Derwent. The works that became British Celanese were built between 1916 and 1918 to make cellulose acetate “dope” for the fabric wings of First World War aircraft, and employed more than 20,000 people by the end of the war. Most production there ended in 2012.
